Background

The ichó therapy ball is designed for people with neurological conditions, e.g. dementia. Through interactive games, ichó offers a wide range of therapeutic support. Caregivers can control the games by remote control and patients can actively interact with the ball.

The team wanted to gain insights into the onboarding & setup process of ichó as well as the interaction with the new app to address problems early in the process.

Approach

  • To observe the setup process and app interaction in real-world we visited intended users at home (private household) or at their workplace (nurses in elderly homes)

  • Additionally, we conductedn=6 lab-based interviews

  • Participants were provided with the ichó, incl. Instructionsand asked to setup theball how they would usuallydo it.
