„Innen wie außen“ - A Podcast Series About Change, Responsibility and Self-Discovery

Tara Maria Bosenick is not only one of the founders of ReSight Global and uintent, but also a long-standing driving force in the UX industry in Germany. Her personal story is closely linked to the development of our company – from its beginnings as SirValUse, through her time at GfK, to the founding of uintent. In this special podcast series, Tara opens up her personal and professional archives: she talks about successes and doubts, repression and change, entrepreneurial turning points and her transition from male to female.

These stories are personal – and at the same time stories of change, courage and new beginnings. They show how identity and entrepreneurship are intertwined – and how both can grow.

This fifth episode brings us full circle: Tara Bosenick looks back on her career, the founding of ReSight Global and uintent, the upheavals in the UX market – and at the same time looks ahead to what is coming, what is possible and what needs to be changed. There is a lot at stake: the quality of UX research, the meaningful use of AI and the positioning of UX as a strategic element in risk management. Tara is also facing a new chapter in her personal life.

UX in a permanent crisis – but with a future

Tara describes the current situation openly: the UX market is no longer purely a growth market, and many companies are in a difficult economic situation. Nevertheless, the need for good UX has not disappeared – on the contrary: with its inclusion in the coalition agreement, user-friendliness has gained political visibility for the first time. Tara sees this as a great opportunity for the industry.

At the same time, however, she observes a worrying trend: the quality of UX research is increasingly suffering from automated tools, a lack of moderation and superficial training. She warns: ‘Anyone who thinks they can answer everything with n=5 is not doing UX any favours.’

AI: a source of hope with additional costs

Artificial intelligence promises efficiency gains, and Tara uses it herself – for guidelines, transcripts and chart creation, for example. But she remains sceptical, especially when it comes to hallucinations and unreliable summaries. ‘We need UX people who curate, validate and take responsibility.’

Interesting: Some customers in Silicon Valley explicitly prohibit the use of AI in order to ensure the quality they are accustomed to. This is a clear signal that UX expertise will remain human in the future.

UX as risk management

A core topic that Tara emphasises in this episode: UX research should be understood as part of operational risk management. Poor UX can be expensive – for example, through increased support costs due to faulty login processes. Good UX is therefore not a ‘nice to have’ but an investment in quality and cost efficiency.

She advocates a rethink: away from retrospective ROI calculations and towards proactive risk positioning. Initial discussions with companies show that this approach is viable.

Enabling instead of replacing

Another focus is the growing need for coaching and enabling for internal UX teams. Tara sees this not only as a service, but also as a responsibility to the profession. ‘When I empower others to do better work, I have real leverage.’ This is especially true at a time when many newcomers are entering the industry without a methodological foundation.

Tara today: In transformation – and at peace

Tara is also undergoing changes in her private life. She describes how hormones are affecting her, how her body, emotions and perceptions are changing. The journey is not yet complete: gender reassignment surgery is pending, and beard removal is painful but necessary. And yet there is something new: calm.

‘I've been driven my whole life. Now I can smile when I look in the mirror in the morning.’

This peace allows her to put her whole heart back into uintent and ReSight. Not to escape from herself, but out of a sense of connection with people.

Transformation is never over

This episode is a manifesto for change: of UX as an industry, of organisations, of people. Tara talks about the great power of change – and the difficulty of enduring it. But she also shows how much becomes possible when you let go.‘I hope that I will eventually find inner peace. But until then, I will continue to learn.’
